Once Halloween passes, the holiday season seems to hurry ahead at lightning speed. Merry music fills the airwaves, cheery decorations stir our senses, and delicious delicacies dance through our heads.

One beloved location that does the holidays exceptionally well is our very own Worcester Art Museum. Actually, a multitude of phenomenal festivities are in store for the final phase of 2015. Here is a sampling of the various gems scheduled to occur.

Workshops

Workshops have historically been offered at WAM, but the holidays seem to make the experience just a little more special. Some of the diverse choices? Families Make Art—Winter Wonders, taking place on 12/5; Street Photography—Lights in Worcester, beginning on 12/5 and ending on 12/12; Hand Painted Ornaments, taking place on 12/11; and Sword Workshop: The Samurai Experience, being held on 12/13. Keep in mind space may be limited, so sign up early.

Entertainment

Varied performances are another favorite at WAM.  On 11/29 at 2 p.m., WPI Vocal Performance Lab will surely please as they sing a medley of seasonal favorites.  On 12/6 at 2 p.m., Worcester Music Academy will delight as they perform an assortment of holiday tunes.  On December 13 at 2 p.m., Salisbury Singers will excite as they present their festive repertoire.  And, on 12/20 at 2 p.m., Merrimack Valley Ringers will enchant as they carry out their unique brand of merriment.

Tours

A host of tours are scheduled for the upcoming season. Holiday-themed zip tours will take place on 12/5, 12/12, 12/19, and 12/26; these short, informative sessions provide insight in to a respective artist or work being featured. A Winter Solstice tour, scheduled for 12/19 at 2 p.m., will reflect the time of year by highlighting assorted artists, including Winslow Homer and Grandma Moses. The Sunday Public Tours, running from 11/30 to 12/21, will present a synopsis of the notable, permanent collection at WAM.

Other activities, besides the abovementioned, are scheduled to take place at WAM. For instance, on 12/17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., there will be a Champagne & Shopping event with live music and complimentary gift-wrapping. On 12/31, few will want to miss the treasured First Night Worcester celebration.

Undeniably, the Worcester area is an edifying place throughout the year, but it is especially amazing during the holidays.  For a complete lineup of Worcester Art Museum happenings, go to www.worcesterart.org.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column]
