FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 18, 2014

Artists and Poets Exhibit at The Gallery at Briarwood

Worcester, Massachusetts – The Briarwood Community is pleased to announce the first public art exhibit in a series of six for 2015.  An exhibit of The Poetry and Painting Group will be on display Sunday, January 4 through Thursday, March 5 at the Gallery at Briarwood, 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester. The opening reception will take place on Sunday, January 4, between 2 p.m. and 4p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The Poetry and Painting Group is a group of artists who are poets and poets who are artists. Members are Doris M. Carter, Joan Erickson, Judy Ferrara, Sandra Cocher, Michel Duncan Merle and Sotirios Sam E. Lalos. Four are retired art professors. They love visual art and the written word equally going from realism to abstractions and everything in between.  Their approach to poems also varies.  For some, the poetry is a direct connection with the paired painting and others have nothing to do with the painting.

The exhibit is open Mondays through Thursdays from 10am-4pm. Group tours and those wishing to visit on weekends may make arrangements by contacting Anita Thomas at           508-852-9007 or by e-mailing amthomas@briarwoodsl.com.

Remaining exhibits for 2015 will feature The Gallery of African Art, Children’s Art from the Worcester Art Museum, The Enamelist Group of The Worcester Center for Crafts, Irina Parfanova, and Art from The Genesis Club of Worcester.

Briarwood is a non-profit senior living community that includes Independent Living cottages & apartments, Assistance in Living services, and Knollwood Nursing Center for skilled nursing & rehabilitation services.
