The Briarwood Community Collects Recipes for Cookbook Sales
Proceeds to Benefit Briarwood and Knollwood Nursing Center Residents
November 8, 2017 (Worcester, MA) — After months of collecting recipes from residents, staff and friends, the Together We Blossom/“Sip & Stir” Cookbook, to benefit the Briarwood Community and Knollwood Nursing Center, is in production and available for pre-orders. Gail Morgan, a Trustee of the non-profit Community, initiated the cookbook project, dedicated in memory of her mother, whose renowned passions included cooking and gardening.
According to Gail, whose parents Peter and Jerry were longtime residents of Briarwood and Knollwood, “100% of the proceeds of the cookbook, as well as any additional donations to the project, will go toward music/audio equipment for each Knollwood resident and updating and enlarging the options in the Briarwood Library.” Gail has treasured memories of her mother cooking regularly for seven while maintaining a hectic committee and docent work schedule.
A dedicated working committee formed to help Gail with the project. Each recipe in the cookbook features the donor’s name and a story about the recipe, making for a unique collection of shared memories.
The cookbooks are expected to be ready just after Thanksgiving. The cost is $12 per copy. Order forms are available from Gail Morgan (gail.morgan00@gmail.com) or Alice Eriksen (aeriksen@briarwoodsl.com or 508-852-9005) or by picking up an order form in the community lobbies. Completed order forms with payment go to Gail Morgan, per the information on the form.
Briarwood is a non-profit, non-denominational senior living community offering Independent Living cottages & apartments, Assisted Living, and Knollwood Skilled Nursing Center rehabilitation services and long-term care.
