Sid Solomon, Artist

The Briarwood Gallery presents BEAUTY SPOTS Sid Solomon, a local figure in the art world of Worcester and Worcester County, in preparation for a solo art exhibit has shared his personal art resume. Some of which is generally known and some has been quite a surprise.

Sid is a product of local art education at the Worcester Art Museum school and Clark University. As a young graduate, he joined the U.S. Army as an illustrator. From then, he interspersed his education and military careers for periods at a time from 1955-1980. He finished off his career in the Military with 3 year stint as Director of Arts and Crafts in Germany with the 7th Army.

He taught arts and crafts in public school, in The V.A., spending much time in various Army installations in the state of Georgia and in Washington D.C. During this period, he also showed his work in exhibitions inĀ  Georgia, Washington D.C, and Miami/Palm Beach F.L.

Sid came back home to build a reputation in the Worcester Area as an eclectic artist who developed new skills as time passed. He established himself as a portrait and landscape painter taking roles in the Art Guild of Shrewsbury, and coordinator of the Worcester Life Drawing Group, to name just a couple.

He has been actively showing his work since that time (1980) in the central New England Region.

Sid continues to expand his journey into art in a variety ways. He has tried out Japanese Sumi-e ink painting and abstract expressionism, plein-air Landscape painting and continues to paint portraits. Not bad for life in which he has managed to be a voice for art wherever he has landed.
