Photographer Ron Rosenstock to Exhibit “The Light Within” at Briarwood’s 30th Anniversary Celebration
Worcester, Massachusetts The Briarwood Community will celebrate its 30th Anniversary with a special exhibit, THE LIGHT WITHIN, photographs by Ron Rosenstock. The celebration will take place at the Gallery at Briarwood, 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester on Sunday, November 16 from 2-4 P.M. Rosenstock will open the exhibit with a viewing of The Light Within, his DVD containing over 100 photographs, accompanied by poetry and music composed for the images. A review by Dr. Karen Clickner, R.N.D., stated, “This is pure meditation of the mind, an exquisite feast of the senses where the low murmur of the haiku and the entrancing soundscape creates the impression that you are within Ron Rosenstock’s photographs.”
Ron Rosenstock will have DVD’s and books available, including his most recent publication, INSPIRATIONS, Photographs of Iceland. He will be speaking about his life in photography. “My life has been greatly influenced by the photographs of Edward Weston, and the work of Ansel Adams, Minor White and Paul Caponigro, all great American master photographers.”

The Light Within black and white photography exhibit will open immediately following the program. Rosenstock gives an overview of his exhibit. “Throughout history, humans have created exquisite structures where people gather to pray, and to seek inspiration and answers to our deepest questions. We also seek out inspiration in nature. Natural settings have been deemed sacred in numerous cultures since the dawn of creation.”
“While photographing in the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco, I commented to our guide that I could feel the impact of the prayers of the thousands of worshippers who had come there to pray. Later, it occurred to me that I was sensing the powerful energy that was there. I believe we all receive, or commune, with that aspect of ourselves that goes beyond our known senses, into the realm of spirit. I photograph as a means of seeking that connection with spirit.”
Rosenstock initiated the photography program at the Worcester Center for Crafts in 1969. In 1972 he started the photography program at Clark University. He has been a teacher of photography, an author of five books, an international photo tour leader and a speaker at numerous organizations in Worcester and around the World. In 2011 he was honored by a major retrospective at the Worcester Art Museum that was held over an additional four months. He was honored to exhibit at the National Museum of Iceland in Reykjavik, Iceland May through July, 2014.
