The Briarwood Community Presents “Visions of Joy and Creativity:
Art by Briarwood Residents and Staff”
Exhibit Opens Monday, Jan 11 and Continues through Thursday, March 3.
Worcester, Massachusetts The Gallery at Briarwood is pleased to announce the first art exhibit in a series of six for 2016. “Visions of Joy and Creativity: Art by Briarwood Residents and Staff” will open to the public Monday, January 11 and will continue through Thursday, March 3. The Gallery is open Mondays through Fridays from 10am-4pm. Groups and those wishing to visit on weekends may make arrangements by contacting Anita Thomas at 508-852-9007 or by e-mailing amthomas@briarwoodsl.com. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will showcase various medium including oil, water color, and enamel.
The collection of artists is as varied as the art itself. It includes artists who are residents in Independent Living, Assisted Living and Knollwood Nursing Center. “The art we make is important, but the process is important as well “, says committee member, Persis Hamilton. “ It gives us a sense of joy, creativity and feelings of self worth. It makes us happier people!”
The Gallery at Briarwood Committee members are Bill Fyffe, Frank Kimball, Mimi Grenier, Persis Hamilton, Betty Petter, Marilyn Pratt, Barbara Roscoe, David Sawin and Dot Yagjian.
Upcoming 2016 exhibits for The Gallery at Briarwood will include: January: Briarwood Residents’& Staff Show: March: Kathlene Hebert, painter and teacher; May: Plein Air Group, outdoor painters; July: Sid Solomon, watercolor painter; September: Barbara Brosnihan, painter and teacher; and November: WWI Poster exhibit presented by Briarwood resident, Gordon, Lankton.
The Gallery at Briarwood showcases the artistic talents of Briarwood residents, as well as artists from the surrounding area. It is the mission of the gallery to educate, encourage and inspire residents and visitors by presenting a schedule of media using both traditional and innovative techniques.
Briarwood is a non-profit senior living community that includes Independent Living cottages & apartments, Assistance in Living services, and Knollwood Nursing Center for skilled nursing & rehabilitation services.
