Worcester, Massachusetts The Briarwood Community is pleased to announce its second art exhibit in a series of six for 2014. “Harbingers of Spring” will be presented by the Silk Road Art Guild of Central Massachusetts March 3 through April 29 in the new Gallery at Briarwood, 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester.
The Silk Road Art Guild is a cooperative organization which celebrates and exhibits the art of the East. This includes the middle-east, and the Asian Countries along the Historic Silk Road. The Art Guild describes the exhibit as “The celebration of the soft, warming, influences coming to New England.”
Artist and member of the Silk Road Art Guild, Sharon Smith-Viles, commented on the process. “The art of brush painting is a meditative process where one can focus on the present moment. The creation of the stroke reveals the idea of the painter.” Ms. Smith-Viles is also a member of the Briarwood Board of Directors.
The Gallery at Briarwood was the brainchild of artist Marilyn “Merry” Pratt, resident and art class instructor at Briarwood. The gallery opened in October 2013 with an exhibit by Briarwood residents and staff.
The first exhibit in the 2014 series, “FACES” opened January 5 and runs through February 27. “FACES” is presented by the Princeton Arts Society Portrait Group to showcase the caliber of work that is produced from weekly portrait sittings at the Princeton Center, 18 Boylston Ave. in Princeton. The mission of the Princeton Arts Society is to foster interest in the arts and to promote the talents and skills of its members. It is led by founding members Merry Pratt and Jean Murphy.
