WISE PROGRAM: “So You Like to Travel: Travel Writing as Reflection” This is a class on Travel Writing, a genre of creative nonfiction writing focused on travel from a variety of perspectives: adventure, political and geographical exposure, cultural exploration, personal challenge, shared travels with others, personal and family memoir, and spiritual journey. We will read essays from The Best Travel Writing 2014, as well as other selections of outstanding travel writing. GROUP LEADER: Susan Perschbacher began teaching Sociology at Assumption College in 1990. During her time at Assumption she was Director of the Colleges of Worcester Consortium Gerontology Studies Program and Director of the Assumption College Community Services Learning Program. Currently a Professor Emerita, she recently received a Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine Stonecoast Creative Writing Program. She specializes in creative nonfiction writing: memoir, nature writing, travel writing, and spiritual writing.
