Okay, summer is coming to a close. This fact makes some people smile and other people frown. Nonetheless, one reason to remain smiling centers on the upcoming festivals autumn has to offer. Let’s look at one particular Worcester event that is especially pleasing to young and old alike.
stART on the Street is celebrating its 10th Anniversary Fall Edition on Sunday, September 16, from 11am to 6 pm; the rain date is scheduled for September 23.
What is stART on the Street? It’s a fantastic, free, fall extravaganza, and there’s something for everyone!
For example, if you like food (and who doesn’t?), there will be culinary delights from pizza, to meat dishes, to seafood, to vegetarian (and yes, even vegan!). If you enjoy activities, you won’t be disappointed: printmaking, face painting, and weaving are merely a few of the many possibilities. If you gravitate toward arts and crafts, you’ll be completely impressed. Over 250 artisans will be displaying (and selling) their creative wares. And, if entertainment is your thing, the options are amazing. Three different stages will rotate bands throughout the day with music genres like rock, funk, Latin, jazz, reggae, and folk. All the while, numerous street performers will be entertaining during the event. Two information booths on each side of the gala will have details regarding performance schedules and vendor locations.
Where are the festivities located? The celebration takes place on Park Ave. from Highland Street to Pleasant Street. Be sure to choose appropriate footwear and bring along a lightweight-folding chair so you can sit if you become tired.
And parking? There are multiple parking lots in the Park Ave. vicinity, and parking is also available on some side streets.
Is there anything else to know? Well, stART on the Street co-founder, Tina Zlody, was recently awarded the 2012 ArtsWorcester Award. This yearly honor is bestowed to individuals who make a remarkable impact in cultivating Worcester’s Arts and Culture scene. Ms. Zlody was presented with the distinction on August 29 at the ArtsWorcester Annual Meeting.
